Barro's Pizza Day

This Thursday, November 17th is Barro's Pizza day. Dine in or take out from Barro's any time Thursday and our school will receive a portion of the proceeds. Thanks for supporting our school!

PTO Meeting Tomorrow

Our monthly PTO Meeting will be held tomorrow, September 8th at 3:30 pm in the Media Center.  We will be voting on budget items and hearing a presentation from the cookie dough company in preparation for our upcoming fundraiser.  Hope to see you there!

Stapley Pool Party

Tonight is the PTO Pool Party at Stapley Junior High from 6-8 pm.  Admission is $3.00 per person or $12.00 for a family.  We will also be selling a slice of pizza and a water for $2, and popsicles for $.25.  Hope to see you there!

Welcome Back!

Carnival Food

This year we have two delicious meal options:

Barro's Pizza--two slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza and a drink
Mi Amigo's Mexican food--bean burrito, rice and a drink

Each meal can be purchased with a meal ticket.  If you pre-order your meal ticket the cost will be $4.00 for a Barro's meal and $5.00 for a Mi Amigo's meal.  The meal tickets will each be $1.00 more if purchased the night of the carnival.

In addition to meals we will have a variety of other food for you to buy:

Krispy Kreme Donut--2 tickets

Ticket Giveaway

We are giving away carnival tickets!  The first place winner will receive 50 tickets, second place will receive 20 tickets and third place will receive a wristband.  There are three ways to enter:

1. Leave us a comment with your child's first name, last name initial and room number

2. Become a follower of the PTO blog (click on the "Follow" button on the sidebar)

3. Volunteer to work a one-hour shift at the carnival or let us borrow your EZ-up canopy or camping lantern.  Send us an email at hermosavistapto@gmail.com and let us know what you can contribute. (If you've already volunteered and you leave us a comment we will automatically give you an extra entry.)

Winners will be determined by a random drawing on Monday, February 21st.  Good luck!!

In addition to winning items from the community at our silent auction, you can also win time for your student with one or more of our fabulous teachers.  The teachers have donated the following activities for you to bid on:

• Mrs. Burton/Mrs. MacEwen--"Krazy" kindergarten classroom picnic lunch (Ned's Krazy Sub) for student and a friend.  Starting bid $20.
• Mrs. MacEwen--Breakfast for student and a friend in the classroom before school.  Starting bid $20.
• Mrs. MacEwen--Teacher for a day.  Come enjoy teaching a fun-filled day in Mrs. MacEwen's kindergarten class.  Starting bid $20.
• First grade teachers--First Grade's Fabulous Breakfast Feast.  Teachers will cook a gourmet breakfast for student and four friends.  Come prepared with a big appetite.  Starting bid $25.
• Second grade teachers--Scrumptious lunch and silly fun with the second grade teachers for student and two friends.  $20.
• Mrs. Hubbard/Mrs. Wilson--A pedicure for student and a friend.  
• Mrs. Hubbard/Mrs. Wilson--Lunch and dessert for student and a friend.  
• Mrs. McKee--Daily donuts.  Donuts and milk for student and four friends every morning for a week.  Enjoy breakfast and music with Mrs. McKee five mornings from 7:45-8:15.  Starting bid $20.
• Mrs. Muehling/Mrs. Barcia--Breakfast at school for student and five friends.  Starting bid $15.
• Mrs. Cochenour--Breakfast with the principal.  Starting bid $10.
• Mrs. Cochenour--Principal's assistant for the morning.  Starting bid $10.
• Mrs. Cochenour--Canal fishing trip for two with the principal.  Starting bid $20.
• Fourth grade teachers--Pizza lunch and an ice cream sundae for student and one friend.  Starting bid $20.
• Mrs. Hellmer--Outside picnic lunch during student's lunch period for student and three friends.  Starting bid $20.

Silent Auction

The night of the carnival you will have the opportunity to bid on some fantastic items and services that have been donated by local individuals and businesses.  We know everyone loves a deal but we ask you to remember that this is a fundraiser so please be generous with your bids.  We would like to sell the items for their stated value.

Winter Carnival 2011

Our Winter Carnival is scheduled for Friday, February 25th from 5:00-8:30 p.m.  We have tons of fun and exciting things planned for this year.  Mark your calendars, invite your family and friends, and plan to attend!


Want to help with the carnival?  There are lots of ways you can help us make this a great event.  We will need lots of volunteers leading up to and the night of the event.  If you are interested in joining our committee or working a one-hour shift at the carnival leave us a comment and we'll sign you up!  We are also currently looking for individuals/businesses interested in sponsoring a booth at the carnival in exchange for advertising in the carnival program, here on the blog, and at the event.  Sponsor levels start at $100.  In addition, we are looking for a DJ and any business interested in donating an item/service for our silent auction.

Donuts with Dudes

This Friday, January 14th, will be our annual Donuts with Dudes event.  It will be held in the Cafeteria from 7:15-8:15 am.  Dads, grandpas, neighbors, friends may join their Hermosa Vista students that morning for a breakfast of donuts and drinks.  It is free--just come enjoy the morning with our students and neighbors!

PTO Meeting tomorrow

Our next PTO Meeting is tomorrow, Thursday, January 6th at 3:15 in the Media Center.  Children are welcome.  We have a lot of business to discuss, including our upcoming spring carnival.  We will need a lot of input and help to pull off the carnival so we hope you will come and share your ideas.  See you then!
